THE BLIND SPOT IN DRIVER EDUCATION

Learning to drive a car teaches you how to control a vehicle, follow the road rules and pass a driving test. But there is a major gap in the licensing process: most car drivers are never taught how to safely share the road with trucks and other heavy vehicles. That means many motorists can earn a licence without understanding a truck’s blind spots, how much longer a heavy vehicle takes to stop, why cutting closely in front of a truck can be deadly, or why sitting beside a truck can leave a driver completely unseen.

Don’t Get Trucked exists to help bridge that education gap. We want motorists to understand what heavy vehicle drivers can and cannot see, why trucks need more space to turn and stop, and how seemingly small decisions around a truck can have devastating consequences. By giving car drivers practical, easy-to-understand heavy vehicle road safety education that is too often missing from traditional driver training, we aim to create safer roads, better decisions and, ultimately, save lives.
